Joseph V. Vernace, MD

Immediately following the completion of his fellowship training at the Rothman Institute, Dr. Vernace joined the medical staff at Bryn Mawr Hospital on January 1, 1988. He has been in private practice in Bryn Mawr since that time. Currently specializing in joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, hip and shoulder, Dr. Vernace has brought numerous firsts to Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was the first to perform single incision anterior cruciate ligament surgery in the early 1990's, and the first to perform arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery at Bryn Mawr in 2003. In addition, he began the program for outpatient joint replacement surgery, and has recently become the second orthopedic surgeon in the country, and the first on the east coast to perform Custom Fit Total Knee Replacement Surgery.

He has been recognized nationally for the last six years as a "Top Doc", and has recently been named as one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the area by Main Line Magazine. Dr. Vernace is the author of several scientific clinical publications and currently serves as the co-director of the Joint Replacement Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Dr. Vernace is an Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Jefferson Medical College.
