Joseph V. Vernace, MD

BOARD- CERTIFIED ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON IN BRYN MAWR

Dr. Vernace is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery and knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Jefferson Medical College and has served as the past President of the medical staff at Bryn Mawr Hospital. After completing his education at La Salle College and Jefferson Medical College, he completed his orthopaedic training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in joint replacement surgery at the Rothman Institute. He has been in private practice since 1988.

He remains one of the very few orthopedists in the Philadelphia area who is not part of a large group, chosing to remain in solo

practice to focus on personalized patient care.

Dr. Vernace has been recognized many times by Philadelphia Magazine and Main Line publications as one of the area’s “Top Doctors”. He was the second surgeon in the country to perform custom fit (kinematic) total knee surgery in 2006. He traveled the US and Europe teaching these concepts to many fellow surgeons and remains one of the experts in this technology. He is a member of the Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Dr. Vernace is currently involved in the continued development of non-hospital joint replacement centers throughout this area and around the country. He currently serves on the Physician Advisory Board for MUVE Health and performed the first joint replacement surgeries at the MUVE facilities in Warminster and West Chester. He is the Medical Director at the MUVE joint replacement center in West Chester.

Dr Vernace resides in Newtown Square and is an avid golfer.
